Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr says he will make even more changes to the Super Eagles side that will face Cameroon in a second international friendly in five days, on Tuesday evening.
Rohr’s wards were beaten 1-0 by the Indomitable Lions on Friday night courtesy of Andre Franck Zambo-Anguissa’s long range effort at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt in Vienna, Austria.
Rohr was without as much as seven first team players for Friday night’s outing but will now miss even more after defender William Troost-Ekong got injured in the game. Rohr has confirmed Ekong’s place will be taken by Galatasaray defender Valentine Ozornwafor.
There have been talks of a possible 352 formation for the Super Eagles, the setup used in their glamorous win over Argentina in Krasnodar in November 2017. Although with the return to full fitness of left back Jamilu Collins, Rohr has a late decision to make.
Captain Ahmed Musa is also poised to start for the Super Eagles for the first time this year while Francis Uzoho will be in goal for the three times African champions who will be hoping to restore their recent supremacy over the Cameroonians.
On Friday, Europe based stars Terem Moffi and Abraham Marcus made their Super Eagles debuts. Two more players are in the frame to do so in Tuesday’s game – Slovakia based Anthony Izuchukwu and Hungary based Vincent Onovo.
Tuesday’s match will commence at 5pm Nigerian time at the same 10,000 capacity stadium that hosted Friday’s game. The Super Eagles are using the two matches as preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers set to commence late August.
Possible Nigeria XI: Uzoho; Shehu, Awaziem, Ozornwafor; Iwobi, Ndidi, Etebo, Simon; Iheanacho, Musa, Moffi.
