Hamza Abara dumps Plateau United, joins El-Kanemi…
Chief coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Plateau United, Hamza Abara, has left his post to take up the vacant managerial position at El-Kanemi Warriors until the end of the season.
It will be recalled that former El-Kanemi head coach Hassan Abubakar resigned after the 5-0 bashing in the hands of Plateau United in Jos, before the entire interim technical crew led by coach Balarabe Musa was then sacked by the club for losing to Kwara United at home on match day nine.
The Desert Warriors, who are currently bottom of Group A, have now turned to Abara ahead of the resumption of the league later this month.
In a statement made available to the public by Plateau United, the tactician left his role on mutual consent. General Manager of the side, Pius Henwan went ahead to appreciate the coach for his service to the club.
“Coach Abara’s departure has left a vacuum in our team, which may be difficult to fill. He has brought a lot to the team. But we are happy that the move is a lift on his career and I am very optimistic, he will do a good job with his new team” Henwan said.
Abara, who was appointed alongside Fidelis Ilechukwu back in September 2021, has now decided to go his own way as he hopes to help the Maiduguri side beat the drop. He is expected to officially resume duties on Monday 13th March, 2023.
The Minna-born coach has previously worked at Enyimba and Niger Tornadoes in the top-flight.
Abara’s first match in charge is expected to be the match day 10 clash with Kwara United in Akure.
