2016 runner-up, Egypt started their U20 Africa Cup of Nations’ campaign with a 39-27 win over Nigeria on Friday. The Pharaohs dominated the game from its start, going to the dressing room with a 17-15 lead.

They widened the gap in the second half, which ended with a twelve-goal lead.

Nigeria will face Morocco on Saturday in their second game by 7pm in the Round Robin, while Egypt takes on Guinea by 5pm in the CAHB Junior Championship.

Meanwhile, defending champion Tunisia humbled Algeria 46-25 in a one sided game

After the withdrawal of DR Congo, Zambia and Sierra Leone, the nations which was seeded into two groups will now be a round robin Championship consisting of seven teams.

The top three teams in championship will qualify through to the IHF Men’s Junior World Championships next year.
