Former coach of Niger United Handball Club (HC), Fidelis Obi is the new coach of Sokoto Rima Handball Club. Fidelis Obi signed a two year contract subject to increment and 20% pay off after two years.
Obi told www.aclsports.com that the conditions presented to him by Sokoto State Government is attractive and has been working with the team for almost two months.
He said, “I give glory to God for my new job with Sokoto Rima, I decided to take the challenge due to the fact that it is two years with good starting salary, subject to increase and 20% pay off after two years.
“The working condition tabled before me are good and I have been working on the team for almost two months now. The support I am getting from the players and technical crew is great”.
The former national team coach revealed that the state was determined to change the face of handball in country.
He added that Sokoto Rima is challengers for this year’s Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja.
Obi said, “Sokoto state decided to reorganize the team by injecting players from other clubs and a technical adviser to restore the lost glory of the club. I cannot say what will happen at this year’s Prudent Energy Handball League; all I know is that the team is coming to challenge for the covertly trophy. Names do not play handball but what matters is that Sokoto Rima is coming play like other clubs.
“My task is to rebuild the club as a professional club to make the state proud”.
Sokoto Rima signed the following players; Mohammed Anas, Emeka Emmanuel, Bashar Mohammed, Ali Moddibo, Buhari Usman, Joseph Igwekire, Suleiman Usman and Alfa Mohammed.
