The newly appointed Technical Director of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Chika Chukwumerije has vowed to present formidable teams on the International stage.
In an exclusive chat with aclsports.com, the Olympic Bronze medallist solicited for the support, counsel, constructive criticism and cooperation of the Nigeria Taekwondo Community.
“I am thoroughly humbled that the NTF board unanimously voted to appoint me as the Technical Director. I thank the board for the faith and trust that has been placed in me”.
“Training will be difficult, disciplined and professional. Both training of the national coaches and national athletes. But the entire purpose of my office is to ensure Nigeria Taekwondo presents formidable teams on the international stage”, he told ACLSports.com
The Beijing Olympics bronze medallist said, “I accepted the offer with all sense of responsibility and purpose knowing that Nigeria Taekwondo is going through its most challenging moment”.
He said that the federation does not have data for upcoming athletes, no policies of national coaches.
“We have no national training centre, no national training curriculum, no standing national teams, no data on our talented upcoming players, no clear policies of national coaches’ selection and a host of other challenges”.
“I am optimistic that with the support, counsel, constructive criticism and cooperation of the Nigeria Taekwondo Community, the objectives of my office as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation will be achieved”, he said
