IHF Trophy: Nigeria U18 can rule Africa again says Nnamani

The head coach of Nigeria U18 Boys Handball Team, Emeka Nnamani insists Nigeria can successfully defend their IHF Trophy Challenge title in Congo, reports www.aclsports.com

The Continental Phase of the Men’s Youth tournament of the IHF Trophy Africa will take place in Brazzaville, Congo from 16th to 20th January 2023, while other participating teams includes; Burundi (BDI), Congo (CGO), Guinea (GUI) and Zambia (ZAM).

The event served as a qualification event for the Intercontinental Phase of the IHF Trophy.

Nnamani said the players selected were based on their forms adding that the team will improve on the standard of play.

He said, “The team has been in closed camp for almost two weeks training and getting better. The chances of Nigeria winning IHF U18 Trophy Challenge again is very high. I believe in the team because we have a good squad, we are prepared and I’m hopeful.

“It is going to be tough because other teams are getting better. We will not have to just sit on that, but we have a good team and we are definitely going to win.”

The former coach of COAS Shooter said the synergy between the players and technical crew is cordial adding that the Handball Federation of Nigeria led by Sam Ocheho has brought innovation to handall in the country.

He said, “The team is good and going well. We have built a strong bond/chemistry between the players and coaching crew in order to remain the best. We need to work on maintaining that standard.

“The administration of Sam Ocheho has been the best so far in terms of giving the younger generation a chance to prove themselves. He is doing everything possible to see the team gets the best motivation.

“We are doing our best in order to make Nigeria proud and we promise not to disappoint everyone”, he said.

Ojo Oluwagbenga (Hadjija of Benin), Faruk Kareem (TojeMarine Academy), Tahir lawal (Correctional), Obabori Samuel (TojeMarine Academy), Ajibike Kareem (TojeMarine Academy), Fuad Mukiala (TojeMarine Academy), Mustapha Isiyaka (Sokoto Rima), Sulaimon Azeez Olaitan (TojeMarine Academy), Kuti Akorade James (TojeMarine Academy), Mohammed Mustapha (Confluence Stars), Aduragbemi Ganiyu (TojeMarine Academy), Faloki Christian. (TojeMarine Academy), Aliyu Rufai (Sokoto Rima) and Sani Sulaimain (Sokoto Rima).

The coaching crew is led by Emeka Nnamani, Assisted by Ayo Joshua.
