The Chairperson of Lagos State Basketball Association, Barbara Harper will on Friday oversee the first Annual General Meeting of the basketball governing body.
The AGM will take place in the indoor sports hall of Molade Okoya-Thomas, Teslim Balogun stadium by 10am about three months after the election of the new board.
In a statement signed by the LSBBA chairperson, Barbara Harper said, “It is going to be a compendium of events because we are looking at the possibilities of building into our programme, authorities delivering quality papers on the way forward for Basketball in the centre of excellence.”
The former Chairperson First Bank Sports Council further said, “We have invited basketball administrators to discuss on how to bring sponsors for grassroots development.
The Vice Chairman, Olumide Oyedeji (OLY) urged basketball lovers in the state to take advantage of the AGM in adding value to the game.
He said, “This new board is determined to give basketball a new face in Lagos. We have programmes lined up for the next four years and it is our dream and vision to see Lagos dominate basketball in Nigeria.”
The AGM brings together the major stakeholders of the game in Lagos, with opportunity for robust engagement on all issues related to the game and is usually an event of huge interest to local and international media.
Expected at the meeting are, full compliment of the executive committee, The President Nigeria Olympic Committee and the Secretary, Engineer Habu Gumel and Banji Oladapo, Chairman Lagos State sports commission, Kweku Tandoh, Commisioner for youth, Commissioner for Education and their Permanent Secretaries.
Others are Sports administrators, School Sport Federation, Schools game masters, sports lovers and the media.
