The 4th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon saw Ethiopia dominate the awards clinching four of the six medals in the top three of both the male and female categories leaving the Kenyans with only two.

Having emerged winner in the male category and sweeping the top three positions in the female category, Meseret Dinke the overall first female at the 2019 Lagos Marathon said “I’m very happy to have won as the first female.

“Winning the top prizes in both categories is good for my country. I wanted to win and I won but I also wanted to break records because I trained very hard with my coaches. Unfortunately, I couldn’t achieve that but I’m happy we swept the top prizes in this year’s marathon,” she added.

Asked about her target for the year and what next after the Lagos Marathon “Improving my time important. However, mine is to continue to train hard while the rest is left for my coaches.”
