Super Eagles duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem are set for a managerial change after Leganes parted ways with their manager.
Leganes announced via their social media account that the club had parted company by “mutual consent” with their manager, Mauricio Pellegrino, on Monday evening.
“Leganés and (Mauricio) Pellegrino have decided, by mutual agreement, to part ways, ” the club said in an official statement on their website.
The Argentine coach, who joined the club last season, leaves the club after a 2-0 defeat to Getafe at the weekend.
The loss at Alfonso Perez was the club’s seventh defeat in nine matches this season, with the club yet to manage a win this season.
Speaking on the development, Pellegrino had this to say;
“We (coaching staff myself) have given our best since the first day, experiencing very good moments as well as hard ones, but always counting with the warm affection of the fans. It will be a memory that we will take with us forever.”
Leganes B coaches, Luis Cembranos and Carlos Martinez, are expected to take charge of the first team pending the appointment of a permanent manager.
Pellegrino was responsible for bringing the Nigerian defenders, Omeruo, who the club went on the sign on a five-year deal, and Awaziem, who joined this summer on a season-long loan from FC Porto.
He leaves Leganes with the club rooted at the bottom of the LaLiga table.
