Life Camp Volleyball Club (LCVC) of Abuja founded in 2003 is a social club with the aim of uniting families and loved ones through the game of volleyball. LCVC is one of the most popular recreational volleyball clubs where families bring their children to learn volleyball while the elderly participate to keep fit.
In 2022, the Board of Trustees (BOT) decided to take the bull by the horn and registered the women’s team for the National Division 1 League. Lo and behold, the team placed second position finishing behind Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers and gained promotion to the Nigeria Volleyball League.
Due to the performance of the men’s team in various competitions in Abuja, the founding members decided to take a bold step by registering them for the National Division 2 Volleyball League. The men’s team has succeeded not only in winning the Division 2 League but gaining promotion into the National Division 1 League.
The head coach of Life Camp VC, Suleiman Ibrahim told www.aclsports.com that winning the Division 2 League is a dream come true for the players, coaching crew, management as well as sponsors of the club.
Ibrahim revealed that Life Camp VC played better in the second phase of the league.
He said, “I am very excited about winning the National Division 2 Volleyball League and glory be to God. Life Camp started the journey at the first phase in Owerri, Imo state and throughout the campaign, we lost only one match.
“When we lost to Sword VC in the first phase, the team went back to the drawing board and we X-rayed our performances during the break. Life Camp made it a duty to pay back Sword in their own coin; it was payback for us. If Life Camp had lost to Sword in their last match, the team still secured the trophy”.
Ibrahim said Life Camp will beef up their squad ahead of the 2024 National Division 1 Volleyball League season.
He said, “I have seen some players at the Division 2 League that I know use in positions that are weak in my team and certainly I will go for them in order to make sure my team becomes stronger ahead of the National Division 1 Volleyball League.
“In every journey, there is always a starting point; you will definitely pass through success and challenges. Life Camp Volleyball Club has been able to metamorphose from a social club to a Premier/Division 1 Club side. Our women’s team are currently in the premier league and I will ensure the team remains in the elite league”.
“The next mission is to keep the men’s team intact, prepare for next year’s Division 1 League and make it to the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in 2025,” he added.
