Super Eagles youngster, Victor Osimhen, has completed a record transfer to French Ligue 1 side, LOSC Lille. The 19-year-old, who has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, joins from Belgian side, Sporting Charleroi, in a deal worth €12million, a club record for Charleroi.

“A big welcome to our newest signing, forward Victor Osimhen, ” Lille said in a statement posted on their social media account.

The Super Eagles AFCON2019 star becomes the club’s eighth signing of the summer and is expected to replace departing star, Rafael Leao, who is set for a move to Serie A giants, AC Milan.

Osimhen became a household name in Nigeria after his heroics in the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup where he scored ten goals in just seven matches to win the golden boot.

He would join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, but failed to make the move to the first team from the ranks after three years at the club making just 16 senior appearances.

After failed loan moves to Club Brugge and Zulte Waregem, he joined Charleroi in the summer of 2018 on another season-long loan move.

Osimhen went on the impress last season at Charleroi, scoring 22 goals in 42 matches in all competitions for the modest Belgian side.

He made his AFCON2019 bow when he replaced tournament top scorer, Odion Ighalo, in the third place match against Tunisia.

Happy for him. Hope he’d play long term for the Super Eagles. We have produced too many short-term strikers in the last decade.
