A United Kingdom based sports for change Non-Governmental Organisation Lord’s Taverners has pledged its support for Community Sport and Educational Development (CSED) in promoting the development of cricket and some other sports at the grassroots level in Nigeria, www.aclsports.com reports.

The message from Dave Pemberton (Project Manager) of Lord’s Taverners was delivered by former Nigerian football international Edema Fuludu (CSED National Coordinator) during the presentation of donated cricket equipment to students of Government Day Secondary School, Asaba.

Fuludu informed the students that Lord’s Taverners major goal is to make sports accessible to the children of the less privileged who ordinarily would not be able to purchase some expensive equipment that will enable them to take part in some sports.

In addition, he revealed that Lord’s Taverners recently donated sports equipment weighing more than 450 kilogrammes to CSED for free onward distribution to selected schools in the Niger Delta.

Reacting, Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Asaba, Mrs. C.K Oragbuna, said this is an auspicious occasion for the school’s management and students.

She thanked Lord’s Taverners for the donations as well as CSED for facilitating the donations.

Also present during the donations were the school Games Mistress, Mrs P. I Ezeanah, Cricket coach and Head coach Delta State Cricket Association, Mr. Anthony Enuma.

The equipment included bats, balls, head gear, jerseys, canvass, gloves cricket shoes, practice balls, wicket keeping pads, shirts and trousers.
