Manchester City have this evening confirmed that French defender, Benjamin Mendy has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The summer signing from Monaco sustained the injury on Saturday during the first half of City’s 5-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace.
The extent of the injury was not known yet until after a series of test in Manchester at the start of the week and in Barcelona where further examinations of the knee by a specialist doctor, today confirmed the extent of the injury.
Although the extent of the injury is not yet known, previous cases of anterior cruciate ligament injury suggests that the French international would be out for at least 6 months.
According to the club’s website, Mendy is expected to undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona as he begins his journey to recovery.
