Rangers International winger Ibrahim Olawoyin continued his impressive form in training with another superlative show on Friday ahead of the July 3rd friendly game between Mexico and Nigeria.
The Super Eagles trained for the first time at the River Plate Training pitch, Wuse, FCT, a natural turf on Friday evening after taking the morning session off for their Visa Application date at the United States of America Embassy.
Twenty-two players were involved in the session. Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble was exempted from the session after a knock he received during Thursday’s league game between Abia Warriors and Enyimba.
Goalkeeping coach Alloy Agu spent a brief session with goalkeepers Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Stanley Nwabali during the time coaches Austin Eguavoen and Paul Aigbogun worked separately with two sets of teams.
An 11-Aside training match was played between Team Ezenwa and Team Nwabali. Team Nwabali won 2-0 with Olawoyin scoring one and setting up the other.
“Brymzy” scored the first by heading home a rebound after Charles Atshimene’s effort came off the cross bar following a well-worked corner kick.
Olawoyin, 23, then set up Seth Mayi just inside the box. The midfelder’s curling effort went in off the inside of the post to round off a flowing passing move which involved three other players.
Team Nwabali: Nwabali; Sanusi, Adeleke, Kazie, Imo Obot; Shimaga, S. Jude, S. Mayo; Olawoyin, Ali Mallam, Atshimene
Team Ezenwa: Ezenwa; Olusesi, Tebo Franklin, Olisa Ndah, Oriyomi Lawal; Onwuasonaya, Zulkifilu; Anayo Iwuala, Adetunji, Ezeikwe, Nenrot Silas
Olawoyin had scored the only goal in the team’s Wednesday morning training session at the FIFA Goal Project when his team won the kick about 1-0.
With Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matches scheduled to hold this Sunday across venues, it is likely that the team’s coaches will allow players willing to represent their clubs leave.
The team are expected to leave for Los Angeles, venue of the friendly game on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
