Former National team player, Michael Akande came in from the bench to help Safety Shooters maintain their unbeaten run at the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja.
Safety Shooters beat Niger United 24-21 to win their fourth consecutive game of the league while Niger United lost their fourth game.
Akande was also instrumental to Safety Shooters win over youthful Lagos Seasiders that ended 25 to 23 goals on Tuesday.
The pivot player told www.aclsports.com that he is not done playing club handball in the country.
The ex international revealed that winning the title for Safety Shooters this season remains his ultimate goal.
Akande said, “I had intentions of hanging my boots but my spirit and body are not ready to stay off handball. Despite not playing in the national team, I am fulfilled playing active handball at my club side; Safety Shooters. The club is trying to find my replacement because I will not be playing forever. Currently, I am not done playing handball at the club side.
“Last season, we narrowly missed the trophy and it was very painful. This season, Safety Shooters have beaten the stubborn teams like De Defenders, Kano Pillars, Lagos Seasiders and Niger United . I strongly believe with experience on our side, Safety Shooters will win the title”.
Safety Shooters will face COAS Shooters on Friday (6th November, 2020) by 7am.
