German Champions, Bayern Munich are set to be without first choice goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer for the rest of 2017 due to an injury lay-off.
The 31-year-old World Cup winner will be sidelined for up to four months after undergoing surgery on a recurrent foot injury sustained in training and will miss Bayern’s remaining Champions League group games against PSG, Celtic and Anderlecht.
“The operation went perfectly, which is the most important thing for now,” said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“We are now looking to the future. Manuel will be back to his previous best and available in January,” he added.
Between the sticks for Bayern during this period would most likely be back-up goalkeeper, Sven Ulreich who has made 12 competitive appearances for the German Champions since 2015 when he signed on from Stuttgart.
