A July date has finally been announced for the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 (Promotion Playoff), www.aclsports.com reports.

The tournament has been put together by the NNL to conclude the current abridged league season.
The winners of all eight groups (Northern and Southern Conferences) will battle in the season-ending Super Eight PlayOff to determine the four teams that will be promoted to the topflight – Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the other four that will be staying put in the second division for another season.
According to the league body, the PlayOff will kick off on July 1 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba Delta State, and will be concluded on July 7 with the final to determine the overall winner of the second division for this season.
The teams are expected to arrive in Asaba on or before Saturday, July 1st, as the draw for the PlayOff has been scheduled to be done on the same day by 8pm.
As per the format, it has been stated that it will be a round-robin format involving the teams from the conferences. In essence, teams from the Northern and Southern Conference will face ONLY the teams in their own Conference in a round robin format before the Group winners will go ahead to face off in the final on July 7.
State government owned Katsina United and Kano Pillars as well as privately owned DMD and agency owned EFCC emerged from the Northern Conference, while three privately owned clubs FC One Rocket, Sporting Lagos and Abeokuta Stormers SC along with government owned Heartland FC of Owerri will face one another from the Southern Conference at the playoff.
The top two teams from each group will play in the NPFL next season to replace the four teams relegated from the top flight, while the other four will remain in the NNL for another season.
