Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), side, Akwa United, has confirmed the appointment of Brazilian, Rafael Everton Lira, as their new manager.
Everton was unveiled at a press conference on Monday, and has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Promise Keepers.
He takes over the managerial seat left by former coach at the club, Abdu Maikaba, who has joined 2017 league winners, Plateau United.
“I have everything to succeed here,” Everton said. “I like Nigeria, for me it is a second home [and] I believe i will do well here [at Akwa United].”
The Brazilian is not new to the NPFL, having already managed two teams in the league.
In 2016, he became the youngest manager and first Brazilian to lift the Federation Cup while at Anambra based side, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, before going on to have a brief spell at Abia outfit, Abia Warriors in the 2017/2018 season.
Akwa United were the 2017 Aiteo Cup champions, and finished second in the abridged 2018 NPFL campaign.
