Group A leaders Insurance faced Remo Stars in Ikenne on Sunday and after going down 1-0 to Franck Kwame’s goal in the 16th minute, Divine turned home a flick from Ismail Sarki off Ebuka Akonbudu’s cross to drag his side level five minutes later.
Overall, it was yet another assured performance from the former Junior international who joined the Benin side from Adoration FC before the start of this season.
“Well, I feel so happy for getting my first league goal and also securing a point for the team at large,” began the midfielder to www.aclsports.com after the game.
“The feeling is so special to me, I can’t even imagine it.
Divine Nwachukwu who is a NPFL/La Liga U15 product also said he would have preferred his side to have won the game but he’s still happy with a point and the extension of their unbeaten run.
“Yes of course, we would have preferred a win in today’s game but fortunately it didn’t happen as we planned and we also thank God for the point and the unbeaten run is still intact.
Insurance have now racked up five consecutive draws since the start of the second stanza with Divine admitting they are disappointing results but they need to keep working hard in order to make the Super Six.
“I must say it has been a disappointing result so far and not the result we all wanted, but still we keep our heads up and look forward to the next game and work hard in other to make it to the super 6 as well,” he concluded.
Apart from his maiden goal, the midfielder has racked up four assists and also played in all 14 games for the Benin Arsenals this season.
Up next for Insurance and Divine is a home fixture against NNL-bound Elkanemi Warriors in Benin on Match Day 15 next weekend.
