El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri’s in-form midfielder Abdulrazak Aliyu has attributed his brilliant performances early in the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season to focus and dedication to his duties.
Aliyu was named Man-of-the-Match in their opening league win away to Akwa United where he produced a superb performance including the assist for the only goal of the game. He however stepped it up from there when his team hosted Kano Pillars at the Maiduguri Stadium on Thursday.
Abdulrazak Aliyu scored the game’s winning goal in the 76th minute when he headed home Sunday Anthony’s corner. Pillars legend Rabiu Ali had cancelled out Bello Kofarmata’s opener on the dot of half time before Aliyu decided the game once again.
“I thank God for these games and the consistency in my game,” began Aliyu to www.aclsports.com on Thursday evening.
“I will have to commend the entire team for their support and it’s been all about being dedicated , focused and above all being able to play according to the instructions of my coach,” added the former league winner with Enyimba.

After two round of matches, El-Kanemi sit top of the Group B standings with six maximum points from their first two games; against the bookmakers’ favourites in their group – Akwa United and Kano Pillars. The lanky midfielder is however not getting carried away.
“I will only give Allah the glory for everything because by our power we couldn’t have achieved all these victories. The league is still fresh and we are taking each game at a time but I’m hopeful that with the current trend we are hoping to get to the continent inn shaa Allah,” submitted Aliyu
El-Kanemi have a good chance to continue their good run of form and compound Plateau United’s woes when both teams face in Ilorin where Plateau have been banished to on Sunday.
