Enyimba thrash Kano Pillars 5-0 to emerge as the biggest winners of match day 28 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

The defending champions, back in Aba after last week’s defeat in Ilorin, strolled past Sai Masu Gida in the one-sided affair in Aba.

Eze Ekwutoziam opened the scoring for the Elpehants before Chijioke Mbaoma grabbed his 13th goal of the season ten minutes before the break. Winger Joseph Atule scored late in the first half and then completed his brace after the hour mark, while Muyiwa Alade came off the bench to round off the scoring with his goal in stoppage time.

In Uyo, Doma United, led by new head coach Abubakar Bala, defeated Akwa United 1-0 to ease their relegation worries as we enter the home stretch of the season. Emmanuel Jesam’s early strike condemned new Akwa United head coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru to a defeat on his first outing with the Promise Keepers.

Similarly, Bendel Insurance were easily beaten 3-1 by Niger Tornadoes at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin. The visitors raced to a three-goal lead through Chidiebere Ernest, Azeez Akintunde, and Clinton Jephta in the first half before the Benin side got a consolation goal through Chukwudi Meze late on. It is Benin Arsenals’ first top-flight home defeat since 2007.

In the other late kickoff game, Shooting Stars scored two second-half goals through Monday Gideon and Adewale Yusuf to beat Kwara United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

Samson Obi was the match-winner as Abia Warriors beat Plateau United 1-0 to return to winning ways in Umuahia.

Meanwhile, Kalu Nweke and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi scored in either half to steer League leaders Rangers to another routine home against Sunshine Stars on Wednesday. The Flying Antelopes have now garnered 51 points and hold a three-point lead at the top with ten games to go until the end of the season.

In Lagos, it finished 1-1 between Sporting Lagos and visiting Lobi Stars. Junior Lokosa handed the home side the lead before the break before the Pride of Benue found a way back through Samuel Tize midway through the second half.

Match Day 29 will take place on Saturday and Sunday across different centres with only Rivers United exempted due to their continental engagement.
