Rangers International forward. Godwin Aguda, has called for total focus ahead of their clash against Enyimba on Sunday.
Rangers welcome their neighbors from Aba in an NPFL week five encounter at the Cathedral later on Sunday.
Speaking to www.aclsports.com in an exclusive chat, the forward says amongst other things that while the People’s Elephants pose no threat, staying focused will be key for his side to take all three points at home.
“Focus,” he said when asked what he considered as key for Rangers. “There is no threat Enyimba can bring that can shake us. [But] we need to come together and play for each other.”
That clash in Enugu tagged ‘the Oriental Derby’ will be the second match in the 2019 season for the hosts following their first, a defeat to MFM FC in Lagos on Wednesday.
The Flying Antelopes were without their star man, Aguda, who was rested against the Olukoya Boys due to their rigorous schedule in the preliminary stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, CAFCC.
With Aguda missing at the Agege Township stadium, Rangers struggled in front of goal against MFM, and eventually lost 1-0 to their hosts.
However, Aguda, who has since returned to training, is optimistic that his side will get it right against Enyimba.
“The reason [Rangers lost] is because it’s the first game [for Rangers] of the league, and the stress we passed through as we entered road the next day after our CAFCC game [against Bantu FC] the previous day,” he added.
Aguda played a very key role as Rangers secured their place in the lucrative group stage for the CAFCC.
He netted five goals in six matches, including two goals in their final back-to-back games against the side from Lesotho, Bantu FC.
