Katsina United came from behind to beat Insurance FC 2-1 in a Match Day 7 game decided at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina on Friday and climbed to second spot in Group A of the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

United wasted a chance to take the lead inside the opening four minutes when Insurance’s Kingsley Onovo was penalised for handball inside the box. The resultant penalty kick taken by Lukman Mohammed was saved by Insurance goalkeeper Amas Obasogie.

The Abdullahi Biffo-led hosts went behind in the 40th minute with Insurance’s first effort on target when Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi beat Katsina goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa from close range.

The hosts however replied promptly as striker Lukman atoned for his earlier miss by rifling home a pass from Tasiu Lawal three minutes later, with both teams heading to the break on level terms.

Insurance received a blow in the second half when their impressive goalkeeper Amas Obasogie pulled up injured and was replaced by former Remo Stars goalkeeper Chizoba Ndukwe.

It was Ndukwe that would pick the second goal from his net when Lawal scored a goal his performance deserved six minutes from time to win the game for the hosts.

Victory took United to nine points, three behind Group A leaders MFM.
