Head coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, has pleaded for patience following his side’s 1-1 draw with Plateau United on Sunday night, www.aclsports.com reports.
In the match day two encounter of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season, the Oluyole Warriors came from behind to rescue a point in front of a packed Lekan Salami Stadium. Victor Dawa’s opening goal for the visitors was cancelled out by former Plateau United midfielder Uche Onwuasonaya for the home side.
Ogunbote, in his post-match interview after the draw on Sunday, pleaded for patience from the supporters and fans of the club.
“Today’s game is just quite an unfortunate match,” Ogunbote said to pressmen.
“We had a lot of difficulties in terms of anxiety and all the rest of it. If you look at the team, it is more or less a relatively new team and we are just trying to get ourselves, playing on the field for the first time, trying to impress our supporters”.
Speaking further, the tactician said: “Synergy in a team does not come overnight. We want to appeal for the patience and understanding of our fans. In no distant time, the understanding in the team will be there.”
On why the team recruited many new players, the former Rangers International handler explained that such became necessary after about seven of the 19 players retained from last season’s squad, left.
“Last season, we retained 19 players, believing that all of them would be with us, unfortunately, we lost some of them”.
Shooting Stars, who are still searching for their first win of the season, were supposed to be guests of Bendel Insurance on match day three this weekend but the game has been rescheduled due to the gubernatorial election holding in Edo State.
