Nigeria Premier Football League champions Rangers International have announced the signing of Bashir Usman from Niger Tornadoes, their 12th new signing of the transfer window, www.aclsports.com reports.
The attacking winger, who scored 12 goals in the just concluded NPFL season, has signed a two-year deal with the Enugu side. Following his superb performances for Niger Tornadoes, he became a transfer target for several clubs both within and outside the country, but eventually signed for the NPFL champions after all contract terms were agreed upon at the club’s corporate office on Tuesday.
“It’s a great deal for me to find myself in Enugu to contribute my quota towards helping Rangers do well in the league and on the continent. I strongly believe that with the quality players I met on ground, we shall make our fans and supporters happy at the end of the season,” Usman said after the contract signing.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side turned towards Usman – whose proposed move to Egypt broke down – after they missed out on Clinton Jephta who had been earlier registered by Enyimba before the Enugu side went for him.
Rangers have been in the market for a host of players to beef up their squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign where they will be campaigning on the continent – the CAF Champions League; and they have already signed the following players – Tekena Gerando, Evans Ogbonda, Hillary Ekawu, Ernest Governor, Anayor Ogbonna, Lucky Abdullahi, Macben Otika, Ekeson Okorie, Somtochukwu Nwobodo, Chimobi Igwilo, and Onyekachi Okafor.
