Rangers International FC of Enugu star Dauda Madaki has told www.aclsports.com that his team are ready to fight for the league title this term.
The left-footed winger is in the Flying Antelopes’ 20-man squad for Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season opener against Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
“Our aim is to win the league. We have a good squad and an experienced coach Salisu Yusuf. We have resolved among ourselves that winning the league must be our priority. Then, we will like to win the Cup again,” the Jos-born attacker told www.aclsports.com
Wednesday’s game billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt promises to be a difficult one for Rangers; with hosts Rivers United coming into the game after an impressive win over Bloemfontein Celtic of South Africa last midweek.
Madaki added: “Yeah, we are not surprised by Rivers United’s good performance on the continent because they did well last season and they signed a lot of good players this season.
“Players like Godwin Aguda (former Rangers player) so we are not surprised. We have prepared for them and we are well-prepared since the pre-season so I have that belief that we can win the game.”
Former Rangers stars Aguda, Bobby Clement and Kehinde Adedipe are expected to line out against the 2016 Champions in a game that will be broadcast live on NTA and the NPFL App.
Madaki is into his second season with Rangers after making his NPFL debut with the team last season, he wraps up the chat by laying down his personal goals for the season.
“My personal expectation for this season is to play good football and help the team to get something by the end of season so that I will boost my career profile,” he concluded.
