Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Yobe Desert Stars have agreed with Go Round FC coach, Ngozi Elechi to be their new head coach for the next football season.
Elechi, born in ONELGA, Rivers state has been with Go Round since 2008, leading them through the lower rungs of Nigeria’s football league up till he secured promotion to the elite league at the end of the 2017 season.
Elechi’s former club, Go Round on Thursday announced they have parted ways with their loyal servant on mutual consent with an announcement on his replacement being awaited imminently.
www.aclsports.com have now scooped that Elechi has agreed to lead Yobe Desert Stars for the new season, replacing their former head coach Mohammed BabaGanaru who left his post at the end of last season.
The new helmsman in Damaturu will put pen to paper on Friday in Jos and will be unveiled at the Club Office in Damaturu on Monday, expecting to begin work immediately. The club are said to have promised to give Elechi the sort of motivation they always accord their head coaches, including a brand new official car.
Elechi who was the lowest paid coach in the NPFL last season – salary at under 200,000 nairas – has been offered a pay package significantly higher than what he earned at his home town club.
Before the 2017/18 NPFL season was abruptly stopped, Elechi’s Go Round were one place above relegation zone while Yobe Desert Stars were neck deep in relegation waters, second from bottom at that moment.
