Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) basement side Adamawa United recorded a shock 1-0 win over Lobi Stars on Thursday; their first win of the campaign on a day Heartland FC left it late to beat ten-man Dakkada FC in Owerri.
Adamawa United have turned out to be the whipping boys of the league this term, amassing just three points from a possible thirty-three until Thursday’s game at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
United claimed all three points courtesy of second half substitute Stanley Nnanna’s striker twelve minutes from time to condemn Kabiru Dogo’s Lobi Stars to another defeat on the road.
In Owerri, Heartland FC came from a goal down at half time to down Dakkada FC 2-1 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Thursday’s televised game.
Kokette Udo gave the visitors the lead in the 40th minute with a superb half-volley after a deep cross by right back Uwana Asuquo but Heartland levelled matters in the 53rd minute through Emmanuel Adachi’s well taken effort.
Dakkada then saw their captain Aniekan Ekpe sent off shortly afterwards before substitute Kingsley Maduforo netted the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time to extend Heartland’s unbeaten run to five matches.
In Thursday’s final game, MFM FC secured a good point on the road in a 0-0 draw with Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina.
