Action resumed in the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) on Wednesday after a long three month break with seven matches played across several stadiums in the country.
In Lagos, FC Robo and Rasheedat Ajibade resumed the second half of the NWFL season the best way possible as the forward scored all four goals in the mauling of their opponents, Abia Angels at the National Stadium, Surulere.
Ajibade looked sharp early on with a few good goal scoring chances but found it difficult to apply the necessary finish. She however found her charm later on after she was put through on goal with a good through pass and the FC Robo forward made no mistake on that occasion giving her team the advantage on the stroke of half time.
With the visitors falling behind just before half time they tried to claw their way back in the second half but Ajibade struck thrice to complete her double brace against the girls from Abia and put the game beyond the visitors.
In Asaba, Delta Queens maintained their unbeaten run in the league with an impressive 3-1 home win over Heartland Queens who are yet to win a game in the league this season. While games between Osun Babes and Sunshine Queens; Adamawa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons both ended in a barren draw.
League debutants, Jokodolu Babes lost 3-1 to Pelican Stars while a lone goal was enough for Confluence Queens to claim all three points against Edo Queens. Bottom of Group A, Sure Babes continue their unimpressive form losing by two goals to Bayelsa Queens at home in Ilorin.
The final game of matchday eight will be between unbeaten Ibom Angels and Rivers Angels. The game which was postponed will be played on Thursday barring any last minute changes.
