Head coach of Nasarawa Amazons, Christopher Danjuma led has revealed his excitement concerning his team’s victory over AITEO Cup champions, Rivers Angels at the NWFL Super 4 on Friday evening.
“I feel excited. Very sweet win,” he said. “Because if any team has been able to stop us from becoming champions it has always been Rivers Angels so give them that respect; but coming here we said no not this time we have to make a difference.”
Talking about what they did differently in a tight contest which was decided via penalties he said: “First we came to play in a different way than we played before. Keep the ball, play with the ball, don’t force the goal and it will come. Then let people come to appreciate female football it’s not something that is played like lawn tennis anymore. That’s what we came to do,” Danjuma said with a sigh of relief.
Having played differently against one of their fiercest rivals to get the much desired win, the defending champions go again on Sunday as they hope to retain their title and once again Danjuma has warned that it will be a different Amazons in the final.
“Expect a different Amazons from the one you saw today,” he said on the final game against Bayelsa Queens in the battle to crown the winner of the 2018 NWFL season.
