Following an impressive display and win by his team in the NWPL Super 4 final against defending champions, Nasarawa Amazons head coach of Bayelsa Queens, Moses Aduku has dedicated the victory to God for seeing him through.

After 12 years of failing to win the league and finally winning it yesterday Moses Aduku said: “I feel great!

“I want to thank Jesus because in the middle of the season I came in the name of the Lord to take over the team and I said to God that if he’s the one directing me to the team I need the trophy and he’s given it to me.”

Knowing his team were up against the defending champions Aduku said he told his girls to remember where they are coming from having worked so hard in the build-up to the tournament.

“I told them they know where we are coming from after 12years and no trophy so I told them we are not here to joke and that is why we got here on Monday. We resumed training since the 27th of December and while others we’re eating New Year food we were working hard. I told them it will be a difficult pill to swallow to work that hard and lose so I told them to go all out.

“I also told them that everybody in Nigeria Women’s Football will be here for the final and that they had to prove that they can play for the national team,” he added.

Another thing that worked for the Restoration Girls according to Moses Aduku is that “We played them (Nasarawa Amazons) at Ijebu-Ode in the AITEO Cup and defeated them 2-1 in a very tight game. So I said to the girls, you have done it before you can do it again. Just do everything I’ve instructed tactically and technically.”

Aduku then went on to commend the quality of football and talent on display at the tournament emphasising that each of the four teams were good enough for the trophy.

“One of the things that gives me Joy is when you see women playing football you’ll admire them. These girls are fantastic players. All of the four teams that came, any one can win the league.

“Every team is good. Amazons that we defeated are good; infact they are one of the best sides in the league. If you watch their game against Rivers Angels they played quality football it’s just that I also have ball players in my team and we had our chances and took them,” he concluded.
