Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala was on target in Barca Femini Super Cup win as they defeated Real Sociedad 3-0 on Sunday afternoon to win their third Super Cup trophy and the first silverware of the 22/23 season.
Oshoala who ended last season with the Pichichi award despite a 3-month injury lay-off continues to impress for the Spanish giants as she followed up her superb assist in the semifinal against Real Madrid women with a goal in the final.

Real Sociedad came into the final as the underdogs and the Spanish Champions ensured it remained that way as they began the game on the front foot. It was only a matter of time before they made the pressure count.
In the 13th minute, Geyse Ferreira combined well with Aitana Bonmati, dribbling her way through the Real Sociedad defence before providing a cut-back for Aitana who finished off the move with a well-taken low shot from the 18-yard box into the corner of the post.
All efforts to add another in the first half proved abortive as Barca went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Two minutes into the restart, a similar sequence of play saw Geyse set up Aitana at the edge of the box. Like her first strike, she drilled in another low shot into the corner to register her brace and double Barca’s lead.
The Spanish giants continued to dominate the game but couldn’t find a third. In the 61st minute, five-time African female footballer of the year, Oshoala was introduced, as she provided the elusive third goal with the last kick of the game.
Lucy Bronze played in an inch-perfect cross to a marauding Oshoala in the Real Sociedad box and the Nigerian made no mistake, connecting with the cross to head it past the goalkeeper.
While Oshoala was on target in the Super Cup win, the Nigerian and her teammates will now focus on their quest for European glory in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL).
