Al Wasl VC of Dubai player, Oyewale Oyedepo has declared readiness to represent Nigeria at future international engagements in 2023. The former Nigeria U21 volleyball player joined Al Wasl Volleyball Club of Dubai on a 1-year deal from OFFA VC in 2022.

Oyewale Oyedepo told www.aclsports.com that playing Club volleyball outside the country has further made him a better player and improved his abilities.

Oyedepo promised to be a good ambassador of Nigeria adding that he will give his best to his club side.

The Middle Blocker said, “I am excited. Playing outside the country means I will have access to standard facilities and this will help me become a better player. I played at the African U19 & U21 Nations Championship and I can tell you that the way the North Africans play is different from Sub-Saharan Africa. I am optimistic my playing skills and technique will definitely improve drastically.

“I am ready to represent Nigeria at international engagements this year and I promise to be a good ambassador of Nigeria, without Nigeria I am not sure this deal would have materialised. I am one of the few players that got the opportunity of attending the U19 FIVB World Championship in Iran; most of these championships were made possible by the President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod. The Nigeria Volleyball Premier League also moulded me into becoming a better player which I am grateful for”.

Oyedepo came to limelight at the 2020 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League in Ilorin, Kwara state.

He was part of Nigeria U19 Boys’ team that won the U19 African Boys’ Volleyball Championship in Abuja and qualified for the FIVB U19 Boys’ Volleyball Championship in Iran.

The OFFA born player participated at the recently concluded U21 Boys African Nations Volleyball Championship where Nigeria finished fourth place.
