Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is unfazed by the absence of key players ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Algeria and expects his side to fight for a good result.
Peseiro will be without team’s captains Ahmed Musa and William Troost-Ekong as well as top stars Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Osimhen for the clash with Algeria in Oran on Tuesday night.
The Portuguese led the Eagles to a 2-2 draw against Algeria’s locally based B side in Constantine on Friday with goals from Everton’s Alex Iwobi and Italy based Cyriel Dessers.

Speaking after the Eagles’ last training session before the game against Les Fennecs, Peseiro admits it will be a tough game against the former African champions but insists Nigeria have the quality to beat them.
“We have trained well for the game. We’ve tried to introduce some dynamics, some methodologies and some exercises so we look forward for the best as the players have done the maximum they can do on the pitch and off the pitch.
“Tomorrow, we play against a good team, strong team but we have to fight to beat them. We know it is not going to be easy, we know their players but we have the quality to fight with Algeria,” Peseiro told the Super Eagles Media after Monday’s training.
Asked how the absence of the aforementioned key players can affect his team on Tuesday, the former Venezuela national team coach says the players in camp are the important ones for now.
“The players not here for us are not important. The ones here are the important players and we believe in them. I have confidence in them and they know what they must do tomorrow.
“I have good players and a good squad and we hope to fight for a good result,” added Peseiro.
The Super Eagles will file out against the North Africans at the Olympic Stadium in Oran starting from 8pm Nigerian time on Tuesday.
