President Federation Cup: Rangers face Pillars in round of 64

The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the pairings for this year’s President Federation Cup Round of 64 with an epic clash between two Nigeria’s football powerhouses – Rangers International FC and Kano Pillars, www.aclsports.com reports.

Rangers, who are the most successful team in the competition’s history with six titles, will face a Kano Pillars side led by Ahmed Musa in a repeat of the iconic final in Asaba. The Flying Antelopes came from three goals down to draw 3-3 before going on to win on penalties.

Quarter-final: Came from ONE goal down to win on PKs.

Semi-final: Came from TWO goals down to win 4-2.

Final: Come from THREE goals down to win on penalties.

In other selected fixtures from the round, defending champions Elkanemi Warriors will face off with non-league side Simon Ben of Kaduna to kick start their title defence, while Yobe Desert Stars will face Abakaliki FC in the battle of two Nigeria National League sides. In another fixture among the second division teams, Abdul Maikaba’s Wikki Tourists will face Edel FC.

Plateau United will face Abia State champions Ahudiyannem FC, while 2017 winners Akwa United will battle Kebbi United. Current NNL champions Beyond Limits will face Krusaders of Bayelsa in another interesting fixture in the round.

Elsewhere, Nigeria Premier Football League surprise packages, Ikorodu City, will have a date with Sunshine Stars U19, Rovers against Igbajo in another all NNL club clash, while Enyimba will take on El-Shama FC for a place in the next round. Shooting Stars v Zamfara United is also among the fixtures.

Meanwhile, the NFF is expected to confirm the venue of the matches just before the games are decided on Wednesday, 19th March.
