French giants, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have officially unveiled their transfer deadline day signing, Kylian Mbappe at the Parc des Princes following the 18 year-old’s loan move from Monaco.
Mbappe will ply his trade at the French capital for the 2017/2018 season before making a permanent move next season in a deal reportedly worth £166m. When this happens, it would mean that PSG have two of the world’s most expensive signings in football history at the club following Neymar’s €222m move from Barcelona.
PSG’s opted to initially capture the French attacker on loan, as a permanent move by the club could risk the wrath of the UEFA financial fair play rule.
Speaking at his presentation, Mbappe said: “It’s a great pleasure to join one of the biggest clubs in the world. Back in May, I was in the frame of mind that I would stay with Monaco but certain events changed my mind.”
“It was important not to leave France. It was important to return to the city where I grew up. I want to do even better than last season. I am driven by the desire to win everything,” he said.
“It’s a great time for the club, Mbappe is only 18 but the whole world knows him, I’m sure we’ll write beautiful pages together.” PSG President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, added.
Mbappe will wear the number 29 shirt and earn about £140,000 in weekly wages.
