Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o has left Konyaspor six months after joining the Turkish side from Antalyaspor also in Turkey. Konyaspor said they reached a mutual agreement with the 37-year-striker who ‘wants to pursue other challenges.’
Eto’o played a total of 14 matches with the Konya-based outfit, scoring 6 goals.
“We thank Samuel Eto’o for the contributions to our club and the services he has made for the club community,” the club said in a statement.
Konyaspor is the 12th professional club Eto’o has played for since kicking off his career at Real Madrid in 1997.
He enjoyed phenomenal successes at Malorca, Barcelona and Inter Milan, winning the prestigious UEFA Champions League on three occasions.
Reports in France suggest Eto’o could join a team in Ligue 1 after paying a visit to an unnamed club recently.
Other reports claim he could make a return to the Serie A in Italy where he spent two seasons playing for the Nerazzurri.
