Senegal international Moussa Wague, who became the youngest African to score at a FIFA World Cup in Russia last June, has been promoted to FC Barcelona senior team, coach Ernesto Valverde has confirmed.
Wague, 20, was recruited by the Spanish club in August and has been playing with Barcelona B amid administrative issues and injuries.
However, with the Blaugrana currently encountering difficulties in the defensive department, the Senegalese right-back is being solicited and will likely start with the team in January.
“We have decided to register Moussa Wague with us in all competitions as from January,” Valverde said.
Wague was trained at the Aspire Academy in Qatar before joining Belgian side Eupen where he put 40 appearances ahead of Barcelona move.
He was named in the Teranga Lion’s 23 man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia where he made history with his goal against Japan.
