Chelsea took the lead after Christian Pulisic played Olivier Giroud in and the France forward finished past Adrian in goal for Liverpool. However, the West London side were pegged back soon after the start of the second half. “I have been here for only 6 weeks but I have seen that the players are prepared to go the extra mile in and out of possession. Liverpool took the lead in first half of Extra Time but Chelsea came back again with a Jorginho penalty. Lampard had special praise for the Italian international. “He and Emerson played 90 minutes at Old Trafford and have also played 120 minuted here tonight and were absolutely fantastic. I can’t praise them enough for their work”.
Young striker Tammy Abraham missed the vital penalty (saved with his foot by Adrian) but Lampard said they have dealt with it already “He was brave enough to volunteer to take the fifth penalty to be honest with you, which shows the character of the young man. I have missed penalties before and so we already told him not to feel bad with himself at all. He will only be stronger for it”.
