Tony International Gymnastics (TIG) of Nigeria won a total of 22 medals at the recently concluded 25th Gymstar International Club World Championship in Malta.
Tony International Gymnastics won 8 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze from four gymnasts after competing with 198 athletes from 15 countries.
Francisca Okpanko won 2 gold and 2 silver, Adeela Adedeji won 2 gold and 2 silver, Nmesoma Okafor got 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze while Chimamanda Okafor won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.
In the category D, Semilore Adeoye and Angela Marononi won 1 gold medal each while Chiwendu Okpanku won the best all around (Gold) on vault, and 3 bronze medals in the floor beam and bars.
Founder of Tony International Gymnastics, Anthony Asuquo said the young gymnasts have demonstrated high level competitiveness.
Asuquo expressed belief that the young gymnasts have the potential of representing the country at African, Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
He said, “I am happy with the performances of the girls, in fact they surprised me beyond imagination. This is the first time an African Club will be participating in Gymstar International Club World Championship and I am glad they have put the name of the club as well as country on the map.
“These young girls have shown they are hungry for glory and I am optimistic in the next 10 years, some of them will represent Nigeria at various international championships including the Olympic Games”, he told https://aclsports.com/
