The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Wednesday ruled on Bayelsa United’s preliminary round tie against Guinea’s AS Ashanti Golden Boys in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup, www.aclsports.com reports.

With the political situation in Guinea getting tensed after the upstaging of President Alpha Conde on Sunday, CAF have now moved to give certainty to opponents of Guinean clubs involved in the preliminary round of CAF’s inter-club competitions this weekend.

Consequently, CAF has now ruled that all the matches will be decided over one leg at the home ground of the opposing clubs on the date of the second leg games.

“After monitoring the political and security situation in Guinea and following careful consideration, the CAF Interclub Committee has decided that all three fixtures involving clubs from Guinea in the preliminary stages will be played in a single leg at the opponent’s territory in accordance to Article 2.1 of the CAF Interclub Regulations,” said a statement on CAF’s website.

Nigerian Cup Champions Bayelsa United will now wait till next weekend before facing Anglogold in the Confederation Cup at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.

Two more Nigerian clubs Akwa United and Rivers United will still go ahead with their schedule this weekend in the Champions League against CR Belouizdad (Algeria) and Young Africans (Tanzania) respectively.

Nigeria’s other representative in the Confederation Cup, Enyimba are drawn bye from this stage of the competition.

Revised fixture:
