United got off to a dream start when former Abia Warriors winger Paul Samson gave them the lead after just five minutes when he poked home a rebound after Douanes goalkeeper Omar Halidou fumbled Wasiu Jimoh’s shot.
Jimoh then doubled Kwara’s lead in the 17th minute from the penalty spot after Samson’s shot was handled inside the box. The former Plateau United winger then got his brace when he finished home Issa Gata’s pass four minutes before the interval.
There were no further goals in the second half but United will take the healthy advantage to Niamey next weekend. Should they advance, a date with reigning champions RS Berkane awaits the Harmony Warriors.
