Nigerian stars Ibrahim Olawoyin and Emeka Friday Eze were on target again for Turkish Division 1 side Ankara Keçiorengucu as they recorded an important 2-1 win over Manisa on Sunday.
Keçiorengucu hosted Manisa in a Week 34 game at the Stade Aktepe in Ankara, knowing that a win against the team above them on the table will all but guarantee their safety for another league season.
The hosts were however stunned in the 28th minute when Marvin Gakpa converted from the penalty spot but the lead lasted only for two minutes before Olawoyin hammered a left footed sizzler from the edge of the box into the top corner on the half hour mark.
The goal was the former Rangers star’s eighth goal of the campaign. He also has eight assists, making for sixteen goals contribution for his side this term.
With the game seemingly heading for a stalemate, club’s topscorer Eze finished off a solo move by Ali Yavuz Kol eight minutes from time to hand Taner Taskin’s side maximum points.
The result made it three wins in a row for Keçiorengucu and leaves them six points above the relegation zone with two matches left to play in the season.
Both Olawoyin and Eze are the club’s leading scorers with 8 and 14 league goals respectively. Both players have scored all of the club’s goals in their last six matches.
The two other Nigerians at the club; Anthony Uzodinma and Alhassan Adamu Ibrahim (former Kano Pillars star) also started the game for Keçiorengucu.
