Samchi Karate Academy won three gold medals at the U-18 Karate championship organised by Supreme Shotokan International Academy in conjunction with the Nigerian Karate Association at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
The founder of Samchi Karate Academy, Samuel Adejebe said Jamal Akeem, Nwane Nonye and Akpofure Mighty won the medals.
He said that the goal of the academy is to develop karate in Nigeria especially in the grassroots.
He added that the country needs to kick start preparations for the next Olympics.
“I’m so happy that my team won 3 gold medals at the U-18 Karate championship”.
“It has always been our passion in Samchi Karate Academy to develop Karate in Nigeria most especially the grassroots Karate. The academy has produced so many champions in the country”, he said.
“We need to start preparing them for the Olympics so that we can help them grow and win medals for the country”.
“I want to thank the organiser for creating a platform for the children to compete. I am also calling on corporate organisations, sport lovers and individuals to come and sponsor Karate so that we can have more championship”.
“Karate is an Olympic sport so the need to catch them young cannot be over-emphasised”.
