Nigeria men’s U20 handball team defeated Morocco 29-22 in their second game at the ongoing U20 Africa Cup of Nations’ on Saturday, taking place in Marrakesh, Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.
At halftime the Nigeria was already on the lead with 17 goals against 12 of the opponent.
The Fidelis Obi tutored team maintained the lead and tempo despite playing in front of the Moroccan fans. Nigeria held Morocco for the last two minutes to record her first victory of the Nations Cup.
The one time champion lost her first match to 2016 runner-up, Egypt in a one sided affair.
In the other matches; Egypt humiliated Guinea 47-21, with a 26 goal lead, while Angola narrowly lost to Algeria by 18-20.
Nigeria takes on the defending champion, Tunisia on Sunday at 5pm Nigeria time.
Two North Africa teams, Morocco and Algeria lock horns by 7pm. Angola battles Guinea at 5pm.
