Super Falcons duo of Uchendu Chinaza and Faith Ikidi Micheal failed to progress beyond the round of 32 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) play-offs.

Uchendu and SC Braga played out a goalless draw against Paris Saint Geramin in Paris; an improvement from the first leg but it wasn’t enough to see them through.

SC Braga had lost the first leg 7-0 in Portugal a fortnight ago. So it was going to be an uphill task coming to Paris for seeking for a ticket to the next round.

Although Uchendu and her team mates avoided a loss, it wasn’t enough to pick a ticket to the next round with the damage already being done in the first leg as PSG progressed with a 7-0 aggregate scoreline.

The Super Falcons forward played the entire duration of the game as an integral member of the SC Braga team and will now turn her attention to the Portuguese League where she’s been scoring goals for her side.

Similarly, Super Falcons defender Faith Ikidi Micheal and Pitea IF narrowly lost a UWCL round of 16 ticket to Broendby on Thursday night.

Unlike Braga who lost 7-0 at home, Pitea IF lost by a late goal to Broendby two weeks ago and looked to make amends in the second leg.

Ikidi lasted the entire 90minutes but couldn’t prevent her opponents from getting a goal as Pitea IF drew 1-1 thereby losing the tie 2-1 on aggregate to drop out of the UWCL play-offs.

Like her compatriot, she will turn attention to the Swedish Damallsvenskan as league action returns at the weekend.
