West African volleyball powerhouse, Nigeria has risen to the summit of the latest CAVB ranking for Africa in the Male Youth Category.
Nigeria moved from no-ranking to first, after emerging winners of the recently concluded Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria.
In a letter obtained by www.ACLSports.com, the President of African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), Dr Amr El Wani congratulated the under 19 boys for their high performance at the 2018 Youth African Games.
El Wani said the CAVB had noticed the sportive spark prevailed amongst the participants in the competition which is really a very big event
The statement read, “On behalf of all the African Volleyball Family, we have the pleasure to express our sincere congratulations for the high performance and the magnificent show of your team, proved during the 2018 Youth African Games held recently in Algeria”.
“This victory is due to your National Federation as well as your boys’ team which granted a huge effort to be prepared for the big challenge. We had particularly noticed the sportive spark prevailed amongst the participants in this competition which is really a very big event”.
“This is for me a great occasion to resent our warm congratulations to your team which deserves the 1st rank and qualified to the next 2019 Boys U19 World Championship”, it stated.
Nigeria will represent Africa at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 Championship in Iran.
