The coach of Yelwa Spikers, Monday Dada has expressed readiness for the 2023 Kontagora Invitational Challenge.
Dada told www.aclsports.com that some of the players (men and women) have been training together despite the festive season.
He said the 2023 Kontagora Invitational Challenge will serve as a build up to the 2023 Nigeria Volleyball League season for the teams.
Dada said, “Yelwa Spikers Volleyball Club is ready for the 2023 Kontagora Invitational Challenge and our plan is to better our previous performance. The players are ready to participate in the Challenge because it helps them keep shape before the season.
“The Challenge put together by Major General Taritimiye Gagariga has helped most clubs in discovering more younger talents because of the essence of the challenge. I was surprised when NAF Rockets participated in last year’s edition after going AWOL for 10 years in the volleyball community”.
Dada believes that Yelwa Spikers can qualify for the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League if given the necessary support.
He said, “Yelwa Spikers is one of the most respected volleyball clubs in Nigeria and we do not belong to the National Division 1 Volleyball League. I strongly believe when we get more support from the government this season, the team will qualify for the 2024 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.
“Well meaning individuals in the Bauchi State have been playing a huge role in sustaining the club and we hope to get their unflinching support this season. The teams can attain greater heights with their continuous role in the development of the teams”.
