South African Wrestling Referee, Charles Villet, has been selected to officiate wrestling matches at the World Championship in Paris France.
The South Africa Wrestling Federation expressed confidence in the ability of Charles Villet to deliver in highly rated tournament.
In a statement available on the South Africa Wrestling social media page, the federation wished him best of luck and looked forward for the referee to make it to his second Olympics come Tokyo 2020.
The statement read, “South Africa’s very own Olympic Referee and international instructor, Mr Charles Villet, departs tonight to Paris, France, for the United World Wrestling Senior World Wrestling Championships.
“We wish him all the best and look forward to another great event in Olympic Wrestling”.
The Olympic referee last year alongside 34 other referees officiated at the the Rio 2016 Olympic Games last year (Four African Referees inclusive).
He was also ranked amongst the top 40 Category IS referees in the world by United World Wrestling in 2015.
It will be recalled that Charles was appointed Neutral Referee in charge at the 11th African Games held in Brazzaville Congo in September, 2015.
