Multiple National Champion, Parkistan Alfred has declared his readiness to make Nigeria proud at the 13th African Games in Ghana.

In a keenly contested bout, Parkistan Alfred (NSCDC) defeated Ikechukwu Robinson by 6 to 5 points in the men’s 67kg Greco-Roman event at the 2024 National Wrestling Trials in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.

Parkistan Alfred who will be making his second appearance at the African Games promised to put extra efforts when the Games begin.

Alfred told www.aclsports.com that he has no plans of giving up till the blast of the final whistle.

He said, “I am happy that another opportunity has presented itself for me to represent Nigeria at the African Games. My final match against Ikechukwu Robinson was a very tough one because he is a familiar wrestler.

“When I featured at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, I did not have confidence and it led to me not performing to my fullest capacity. I believe my bout at the African Games in Ghana is going to be different because I have learnt my lessons.

Alfred admitted that winning a medal at the African Games would be one of the best moments of his career.

He said, “Everyone should expect something different at the African Games. By the grace of God, I will put more effort this time and win a medal. Winning a medal will definitely be one of the best moments of my career”.
